2011 Spring Open Water Swimming Clinics
About the clinic:
Learn and practice drafting, sighting, starts, positioning and buoy turns that are critical to the open water swim. The clinic will include (1) classroom discussion of open water swimming principles including technique & tactics (2) in-water application of technique, start, drafting & sighting skills and (3) underwater video analysis using the best-in-class Dartfish Software.
Take this opportunity to learn from the coaches of Atlanta’s premiere swimming & multisport programs that have helped produce numerous swim PRs across all distances, including the fastest amateur swim splits at the Ironman World Championships in Hawaii for the last two years.
Who: Open to all levels of experience, adults and 15 years-old and above, we welcome ALL skill levels to join. The group environment is conducive to learning regardless of skill level. Athletes should be able to swim 100m/yd continuously. We will group athletes by skill level as appropriate.

Dates: March 19, 2011 – 1:00pm – 3:30 pm & April 16, 2011 – 1:00pm – 3:30pm
Price: Dynamo Members: $60; Non-Members $75
Other: Athletes should bring cap (if needed), goggles, fins (if you have them; else, Dynamo will attempt to supply fins) and a towel.

Swim Instructor Bios:
Maria Thrash – Maria is the Head Coach of Dynamo Masters & Triathletes and also acts as the Head Swimming Coach for Dynamo Multisport and Triathlon Coach. She has over 37 years experience, coaching and competing, in the sport of swimming, including stints at the collegiate and USA Club levels. Maria has coached NCAA qualifiers, numerous national level swimmers and All-Americans, including one male and one female state record holder, as well as the male high school Swimmer of the Year. As Head Coach of Dynamo Masters, her athletes have garnered numerous PRs while also posting multiple overall and age group top swim splits at all distances.
Matthew Rose – Matthew is the Head Coach of Dynamo Multisport. Prior to founding Dynamo Multisport, Matthew served as an assistant swimming coach at Stanford University (women’s program) and later at Arizona State University (men and women’s programs) working primarily with distance athletes while pursuing his graduates studies. At both locations he worked with numerous Olympians, world record-holders and NCAA champions. He was on staff for Stanford’s last NCAA championship team in 1998.
